Duncan Gibson is a rather unremarkable biologist living and working in Los Angeles, CA. While on sabbatical from work to develop new avenues for future research regarding the sharing and processing of information in microbial communities, he is unwittingly drawn into a sinister, deadly, and downright unfriendly web of corporate espionage, political intrigue, and digital data piracy.  Despite his attempts to extricate himself from the plot, he is only drawn further and further into the quagmire.  As he begins to unravel the conspiracy, he is given an involuntary and applied education on the role of data privacy and artificial intelligence in the modern corporate landscape.  Simultaneously, he embarks upon an intellectual odyssey as he explores the concepts of big data and information and their relationship to entropy and the fundamental underpinnings of reality, with implications from physics to the origins of life.  Will Duncan and his friends be able to unravel the mystery and piece together the conspiracy before time runs out?

  • I had more fun researching and writing Things Fall Together than anything I've done in a long time. More than anything else, it has given me the opportunity and excuse to think deeply and talk about many of the ideas I find most interesting. My hope is that this discussion in the book is interesting and exciting to other people as well, and that the book might serve as a conduit to connect people to new ideas that they may find intriguing.

I have started a Patreon to help me continue to do this work into the future. The Patreon is for any readers of the book out there who derive some value from Things Fall Together and are interested in supporting me in producing more content like it. I am already working on a sequel that I think will be even better, and my dream is to transition to writing full time, but that would only be possible if enough people find value in the product and are willing to support the work, both through buying the book and through this Patreon.

If that sounds like something you would be into, you can sign up to support me on an on-going basis here and I will send you the book, additional perks, and my sincere gratitude!
